Painting in Progress!

Over the weekend I finished my succulent painting (photo coming soon) and started a new one! This painting is based on one of my favorite memories from our summer trip to San Francisco a few years ago. Every morning we would start the day at our favorite coffee shop, Sugar Cafe...."Two mochas please!"

This was the time each morning when my sweet Jeremy and I would spend time talking about we enjoyed from the day before (aka: marveling over the original Chagall paintings in that gallery or recalling the cool fresh air by the bay) We would make our plans and chart our route and be off to the most amazing start thanks to our delicious local coffee and homemade whipped cream. (Hello amazing! Don't worry we walked enough hills to burn it off each day-ha!)

I have a photo from this cafe and I'm using that as the basis for this painting. There is an awesome abstract painting in the background that I had a blast "re-creating" for my painting and I'm working hard on getting the shading on those coffee cups just right. I can't wait to show you guys a picture when it's finished!

I won't be selling this painting, and that's a big deal for me. It's been a long time since I've painted something just for myself, to hang in my home. :) It's a pretty great feeling!

But don't worry, I'm planning to paint some new canvases to sell soon! If you'd like to see more of my progress on this paintings and other parts of my creative life, follow me on instagram @specsandwings
