Featured Artist: Claudine Hellmuth

The first artist blog that I followed was Claudine Hellmuth's! I love all of her artwork! Check it out and get inspired!!!

1. What is your favorite kind of art to create?
I love to work with collage, then i can draw, paint, use papers and photos all in the same piece!

2. Where do you get your inspiration?
Most of the time the materials provide the inspiration, looking at a photo will give me ideas which leads me down a path to the next idea. I love it when that happens!

3. Who are you favorite artists (or art blogs)?
I love decor8 blog (https://mail.ttu.edu/owa/redir.aspx?C=5a198795499b4a75ab3a18a1fe4c4f9e&URL=http%3a%2f%2fdecor8blog.com%2f) I have so many artists blogs that i like to follow, too many to list here! But I have links on my blog!

5. What MUST be in your studio/work space?
my pets! I can't work without everyone snuggled in. I have 2 beds in the studio just for the cats.

6. Favorite drink:
water! I am so boring. I gave up diet coke almost 3 years ago and now I just drink water.

7. Top 5 creative music:
I like to listen to This American Life (thislife.org) when I am working in the studio. I get so wrapped up in the stories. Love it!

8. What is a typical day like for you? When do you make time to be creative?
I don't really have a typical day, I usually run errands or have meetings in the morning, then try to be in the studio by 11am check email and get to making artwork by 1pm. Then work on artwork until 6 PM check emails again work on blogs or other things that need to be done. This can all be changed at a moments notice with a deadline or something else that needs to get done right away!

9. Why do you create?
I have to! I can't imagine not making things!

10. What advice do you have for artists who are just getting started?
Have a web site! Have a blog! Use social networking to get the word out about your artwork. there are so many online resources available that are free and only take your time and it can make a huge difference in helping to launch your career!

12. What is it like having your own art supplies line?
Amazing! I got to work with the chemists at Ranger to come up with my dream paints and products, the colors and the quality that I have always wanted to work with. it's a dream come true!

13. What's your newest art adventure?
Right now I am focusing my attention on getting the word out about my product line, and working on custom artwork orders for clients!

14. What's your favorite thing about what you do?
Getting to take a nap whenever I want, working for yourself is wonderful!!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!!!
