Emily found this really fun idea to make boxes from old books in "The Repurposed Library" by Lisa Occhipinti! So my whole family joined in the fun! We stared with a trip through the thrift store where my mom, sister and I chose our favorite sizes and covers....
This one was my favorite so I chose it even though it meant my box would be pretty small.
Isn't it awesome?
When we got home, we cut out the pages so all that was left was the cover.
Then, my dad created wooden "box frames" for each of our books! He measured each piece and cut it with his saw then we glued the pieces together with wood glue. Mine looked like this...
We let them dry over night and the next morning, we used a hot glue gun to glue our boxes inside the book covers...
Here's mine all glued together! It's so fun that it looks like a normal book...
But when you open it, there's a surprise inside!
It was fun to do this project with my whole family! My little box is so cute! What should I put in it?
Up next.....a "spotted" feature at Pink Tumbleweed!
